What is the average RPM for a 97 D1 when cruising down the highway say 75 MPH? Mine stays about 23-2500. Just curious of good or bad.

I hate to look at my RPM gauge when it hits about 31-3200 at 85 mph.

My Rover actually likes to run at higher rpms better than lower. I've had much better mileage since I started resisting the urge to just gear on up into 5th.

I know you have an auto-box, but my experience is that the engines kinda like the higher rpms.

Depends on your tires as well.
I'm right at about 3000 with stock tires at 70mph.
About 2500 with 7.50x16's at the same speed.
D1 with 5speed

It depends on what gear you are in. If your "engine kinda like the higher rpms", just put your land rover in first gear and go 75 mph. I can guarantee that you engine will be revving high.

Why would you want to go 70mph? or even close to that? The discovery is made for off-roading not driving on the road. you also can't be worried about gas mileage since it is exclusively for off roading.
