I have a 2002 Disco and I was curious what other owners are getting in gas milage. I live in NYC
have 21000 miles on vehicle I estimated 13mpg.
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Walk.

Use your winch, hook it to the Echo in front of you.

Teddy,

Keep your tires inflated at the max pressure rating and ensure your air filter is cleaned or replaced frequently. Implementing these measures are the simplest ways you can improve your gas mileage. Everything else is generally argued about on this board.

Teddy, I would say that if the word "teen" is in your estimate of MPG, you are doing pretty good. I think I'm averaging about 10mpg around town right now. With winter cold, stop and go traffic, roof rack with lights, bigger tires, etc. I would be happy to get 13mpg on average again. :)

I drive 54 miles a day - mostly highway some city. I m getting 17-18 when I'm good. Keep the rpms under 2K when starting and set the cruise at 68 on the highway. As always keep you tire pressure correct. Keeping the mud off the bottom seems to help also!

tk

yeah - not driving over 60mph on the fwy will yeild 18-19mpg.

ditch any brush bars, roof racks - gentle starts off line - change the fuel filter - a safari snorkel helps both power and mpg on the hwy. avoid the k&n filter.

keep tires at 30f 40r

if you have junk in the back - take it out - every pound of weight helps....

don't drive fast with windows open esp the s/roof - use the a.c. instead. add techron every 5k miles. use only 91 octane.

Steve I do everything you mention with the exception of 91 octane - I use Hess 89 and I actually see an improvement on gas milage. When I use Amoco 91 my milage goes down? Whats up with that?
