It was a heated windshield. How much... ballpark? Do I have any case in this being under some strange clause in the warrenty .. maybe my insurance company?

Call your insurance company on this. You should have some kind of coverage for windshield damage. I replaced 3 in 1 year (2 on my Disco and 1 on the Freelander). The Freelanders windshield took a day longer since they had to order it with the heating elements. I only had to pay the $100 deductable.
First time I ever had to get a windshield replaced and I went through 3 in 1 year..=-(
BTW I know how you feel. I picked up the Freelander on Fri and the windshield was broken on Sat.

Definitely the insurance company will cover - and it will be under comprehensive not collision, so will not effect your rates.

D2's should be cheaper I think since there are more with ehated windscreens. I paid about $450 for a heated windscreen for by D1

In florida it is a zero deductible on windshields per state law. Not sure where you live

ZERO deductible? STATE law?

Geez...HOW liberal is florida?

Ohhhhhhhhhh. thats right. Remember November 2000....

Did you guys have to count dimpled chads to get that one to pass, or did Communist Cuba finally finish their invasion of Fla?

Just messin....but its ironic how true it is, huh? :)

Just take the windshield off, don't replace it! The only thing that Land Rover designed the Discovery for is Off-roading. You would be better off without the window anyway

Right on Carter! To hell with the windshield, it is just a luxury item. I like the feel of the wind on my face anyway.

FWIW thats an impostor but I Actually went wheeling w/ a jeep buddy once, windshield down, that was some crazy shit we were muddy all over by the time it was all said and done. It was cool once but I gotta say as much as I would like a d90 for "top down" capability a windshield can come in handy.

It's only about 10 degrees in cleveland today. I dont really need the windshield. I'll just have my girlfriend break off the snotsicles from my nose when they get to long.

liberalism is second only to california in this state. I guess that's what happens when mickey mouse and the elderly live in the same space.
I have never seen so many people want eveything for free but when it comes time to pay for it in taxes they all say no. Where do they thing the state budget comes from? In the last state election the people of Florida voted in a bunch of ammendments to the constitution and then when they said they would have to raise taxes cried about it. Go figure

Taxes? Why pay taxes, they do nothing to help me when I am offroading anyway. When is the last time you seen taxpayers money go to upgrading a trail.

Actually, in VA, if you remove your windshield your vehicle will pass inspection ONLY if the windshield wipers are removed as well.

Kookie.
