I have seen the new key chains that come with the 2003 discovery II and I would like to install that keychain on my DI, also would it be possible to install the new RR keychain on a DI. |

Alfred, I'm sure "Richard" could help you with this, he's the man. I was having a shitty day, and now I'm lol. Remember to disconnect the positive and negative battery leads when you make this swap. -Jack |

Alfred, You can install the new keychains but you will have to completely replace the entire wiring system in the discovery as the DI wiring will not accomodate the new key chains. I would also be a good idea to replace your alternator and steering pump. Richard |

You may want to also check the compatability of the rear passenger side headrest witht the new keychain. I saw in a post a few months back that someone had to swap out the headrest to make it work. It seems that there is somekind of magnetic or radioactive field in the headrest that will not you to steer the car to the right if you do not do this modification. You may want to discuss this with your dealer before you try it. |

Alfred, If you are changing keychains, I would like to know if I could have your old one. I was thinking about modifying my 78' mustang to accept the D1 keychain. I have been looking awhile for a lightweight replacement for my hubcap keychain. It sometimes gets in the way when I'm driving, and like I said earlier it is quite heavy. Please let me know. |

Bufford, I will sell you my old keychain you name a price. I have ordered the new keychain, wiring harnesses, headrest, and alternator. I am hold off on the steering pump as it is quite expensive. |

Also...make sure you change the air in your passenger side rear and drivers side front tyres before changing keychains or you could cause damage to the phenolic block on some earlier models (pre-98 or 3.9 engines) As for the RR keychain...I heard it was possible, but it cuts down on your approach/departure angle due to the extra weight and non-oem color. There is a guy who did it, though. Search the archives. |

Greg, That depends on the make of vehicle. My brother did the key fob swap on his Xterra, and that truck was so thrilled it puffed up and GAINED two inches of lift! Pretty cheap mod in the end. Karen |
