what are 300tdi motors if you are able to find one in the US go for I saw a td5 somewhere and they wanted 7900 for a complete I think it came with a trans. too. Is 3500-5000 good maybe for a used one with 50,000 miles or more.

yes, i know people who have done the conversion, for around that price you should be able to get the transmission too, which is a different R-380 then the petrol trans. It also has a different bell houseing. Expeditionsoverland.com has one, Rovers Down south also had a few the last time I checked. And ECR even though I don't like them, they have them. Don't listen to them though they will just discourage you.

Thanks I want to get that one at expeditionoverland all it needs is a radiator he said, I know it will probly need some tuning so I will be looking at a couple grand more for parts and misc. I also have to see about registering it and since it is a diesel I won't have to worry about smog in CA.

Brad if you need any help or advice I can give you the number and e-mail of my friend who did this to his Rangie. He will give you a straight answer no bullshit talk, since he doesn't work for a garage. What kind of truck are you planning on putting it in? By the way, I drove his truck, its a damn beast, much better power then with the V8 petrol, and torque that you couldn't even shake a really big stick at.

I want to put it in my 96 disco, but I need to decide on what to do first my lift or the diesel. I will probly try to do this all maybe end of the year or next year if my engine starts having problems. That will also give me time to save up for the parts I will need.

I was looking into doing this to my 91 range rover. Will the 300tdi disco autobox fit in there? Putting a manual probably wouldnt be worth the trouble. I'd have a bunch of questions for someone who's sucessfully done it :)

Add me to the list of folks who want to install a 300 tdi engine in their rangie. I own a 93 LWB and want to get the 300 tdi and auto transmission I presently know that RPI sells a conversion kit for installing a 300 tdi in a standard gas transmission with a new bellhousing and torque converter, etc.. But does anyone have experience with this sort of conversion? I was wondering if it was worth it to just send the car to england get it all done there and send it back. I've found 300 tdi's in england for 1800 US add a trans and cooler, radiator, etc.. and your probably at $3500. shipping of the truck back and forth 1500 now we're at 5K wihtout the labor, but hey, when your done, you can take a 2 week drive around europe to check it out, then come back home. believe me I'm pondering the idea as we speak! What about this hype about the Powerstroke 4 cylinder being a relatively easy direct bolt in, Anyone, Anybody?

The Ford Powerstroke diesel 4-cyl. is used in Ford Ranger p/u's in S. America. It's 'basically' a LR 300 Tdi (which is 2.5L) stroked to 2.8L & has a variable turbo. It's only "bolt-in" (in terms of to the frame) if you have a 300 Tdi frame or weld on new engine mounts. The engine's biggest bonus over the 2.5L is the extra off-the-line power.

ps-for 300 Tdi's, give Equi-car in the UK a call

Ozzie...I assume you know the mil2age is a good bit better with the manual ••••• rather than the auto.
Where in the UK did you find them for $1800US?

Troy, you have any more info on the Ford "300TDi"?

Either of you can e-mail me offline if you wish
