I have a 96 d1 with about 95k on the clock and i have a very intermittent starting problem where i have to crank the engine quite a bit till it starts, this only happens once in a while and it usually is in the morning or after it sits for a long time like over night. This all seemed to start after i had the 90k service done, the dealer can'tseem to find the problem but they replaced a sender on the manifold but it didn't do the trick, there are no fault lights on ,any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Tony Could be a leaky fuel injector. Remove the spark plugs one at a time in the morning. The strong smell of gas on one of the plugs would indicate a leak. I think that I have heard of some D1s that have had corrosion inside the fuel pipes. Small pieces of the corrosion may foul the injectors. Also I would work on all basic electrical connections. Ex: your ignition switch may be flaking out. If so then the EFI system may not always be working while the switch is in position III(starter turning). Randall |

I had the same problem with my 95 Disco. The dealer said that it could be a fuel pump issue. And wanted around $800 to fix it. I did not want to spend that kind of money on just a hunch. So I just replaced my fuel filter and had a fuel injection cleanup service done at my local repair shop where they did a fuel injection system flush. And what do you know? The problem disappeared.
