Hey All,
Thinking of making my first Ebay LR Disco purchase and am a little nervous. The sale ends in 1 1/2 days. It is too far for me to check out the Disco. Any advice or stories to share? Thanks for all of the great info over the 2 yrs. or so I've been reading the forum.

I bought my '96 Disco SE off of eBAY sight unseen, about 1000 miles away from me. It had 90,000 give or take, and was a very nice looking rig from the pics. I actually called and spoke with the seller twice before purchasing as well as running a CARFAX report. I paid around 10k then, loan value was around 13-14 so no problem. Just be sure to have your financial stuff lined up first before you even bother bidding or you'll just waste the seller's time if you don't get a approved ASAP ya know>? When I got my Disco(I had it shipped via a trucking company), there were a few minor flaws not mentioned on the auction, I took it to the dealer being a newbie, and spent around 200 bucks. I had emailed the seller about the situation, not being rude, just letting him know, and he reimbursed me immediately, I mean I had a check within 2 days of my initial email to him. He was a great guy, but not sure if he sells anymore, his username was "imagemotors" and he was from Boston. Anyhow, good luck I must now go to bed... Later.. Rob

I sold my 88 Range Rover on Ebay. I thought it went well. The guy bought it sight unseen. We did discuss it alot before he purchased it, he had owned Range Rover before. You just need to know what to ask and be educated about the vehicles. It did take him about three weeks to arrange shipment!

I sold my Series Rover to a buyer about 5 hours away with just a few phone conversations. I brought it to an independent Rover service center and let them go through it and report back to him. This was after he won the auction. He flew up and drove the truck home, a 6 hour drive. I also purchased a RR myself through Ebay but drove about 7 hours roundtrip to check it out first. I waited until after the auction ended without a buyer and made an offer. One thing, it's amazing how much better a digital camera can make a vehicle look. So if looks are important to you ask many questions concerning this. You could also post the location here and have a D-webber check it out for you. Good luck I hope things work out for you, let us know.

Where is the seller and where are you located? Somebody here might be nice enough to check it out for you if it's closer to them. That way you get an independent report.

I'll take your advice and see if anyone can look at this car.

This car is in the Boston area. Anyone willing to take a peak at it for me? I'd really appreciate it.

The link is

The dealer listed is BostonMotorcars. If someone can look email me at wagnerjc@swbell.net or page me at 314-294-3827. Thanks a ton.

Thanks for all of the advice and input on a couple of different threads. Bad news is that the auction got pulled with only an hour or so left. The price was going too high anyway. Thanks again. Are there better times of year to look for Disco deals than others?

Ferretti Motors in PA is a great ebayer he used to be in Brooklyn, New York and always had a nice supply of off lease cars not to mention a few Land Rovers. His prices seem fair and was always willing to answer questions. I think hes got some Discos at auction right now. Good luck.

I bought my 2001 DII from ebay in Oct 2001. The guy I bought it from is a dealer and had great feedback. Once I won, my I flew myself and my brother-in-law out to Missouri to drive the truck home to VA (1000 miles). Great way to get to know the truck!!

My overall feelings: I got a killer deal and couldn't be happier. I'll definately look @ the ebay option for my next vehicle(s).
