I need to replace the stock tires Goodyear HP 255-55-18. Tirerack has nice selections, but i found this at the local shop, and they give you free life balance and rotation.

The description of these tires sounds good.. but Ive never heard of Nitto.

Seems like most people swap down to the 16" for better tire selections and offroading. There is however a 260-55-18, that can be replaced instead. Would this suffice the offroad performance? Found this at tirerack:

This would allow me to keep my 18" wheels, but dont know how much it would affect the handling.

How would a 265-60-18 with OME springs (1" raise) with OME shocks to complement these tires?

Nitto tires are good tires when it comes to high performance (street performance)

An interesting note on rim size.... It seems that the latest craze in tire design for rock crawling is the BFG Krawler tire... It's first carcass is built for a 17 inch rim.. The another thing of note is the desire (a big one) for 17" rims capable of being used off road.. Of course that has a lot to do with available room for sidewall... On a 32 inch tire a 17 would be silly but on a 37" the 17 eliminates lots of wallowing at low air pressure..
The Nitto tire? Well it looks nice..

I just tried mounting Continental 265/70/18's on a stock SE7 w/ACE and running board- WOULD NOT FIT. Front clearance was incapable of using this tire on 18" rim. 70-height series is too tall for this. 60 or 65 would be the max. Got an excellent price from tire rack- 100/ea for the tires, with 540 treadwear rating. Goint for the Kumho's 255/55/18 now instead
