Some are "cad" plated . .. Yellow zinc plating is also used..
I assume it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer

What lettering is stamped onto the head of the bolt?

None, only the usual six radial lines and a triangle.

But I thought zinc and cadmium are both white color, that's why I was asking...

we sometimes use a yellow chromate coating on some of our stuff. placed on top of the regular zinc coating. basically gives a differnet "look" to the product as the zinc is the corrosion protection.
