Had the check engine light come on, fixed some possible sources and want to reset the light. I know I can pull the battery terminal but figured pulling the right fuse might be easier. Which fuse is it? Tried of a few of the big ones under the hood with no luck |

Rich, What is the mileage on your vehicle? If its around 50K then, it could be the check engine reminder box. Its a small brown box under the passenger seat on Disco series I. Sanu. |

"Check engine" light (orange) is caused by a fault. "Service Engine" (red) is the maintenance reminder that is reset by the emissions box and comes on at 52k mile intervals |

I am looking for the fuse to reset the check engine check not the service engine. I know I could just pull the battery terminal but I dont have my wrenches with me and it super cold out anyway. Would rather just pull a fuse if possible |

Pulling the battery doesnt work so I dont think a fuse will either. You can go to your parts store like Autozone and have them reset it or just wait for it to reset on its own. |

I did read someone that pulling the battery for the ECU would cause it to reset. Figured if that was true I could pull a fuse. |

It depends upon what model year you have. For OBD-II equipped vehicles ('96 and later) the ECU stores trouble codes and (unfortunately) you need Testbook to reset it. *However*, I have heard that if the problem is fixed and the brain doesn't record any further error messages from the offending sensor, it will reset the light after 3 (6??) error-free start/stop 'cycles' |

You don't need testbook to reset the check engine light on an OBD-II vehicle, a standard OBD-II reader capable of clearing codes will do. That's the whole point with OBD-II, it is a government mandated standard. Of course there are still some propritary codes a standard reader won't read, but that's life.... |

95 Disco resets by disconnecting the red terminal from your Optima. If you don't have an Optima, take this opportunity and buy one. e |
