Okay i could probably do the research and figure it out myself but i thought i'd try the lazy approach. If i put a TD5 in my Disco, the ECU for the 4.0 comes out not effecting any other part of the vehicle? Like the windows aren't going to stop working are they? Or the CD only plays track 5 with the volume set just so?
Just a query for the knowing masses.

To my knowledge, the GEMS ECU just controls the engine and ignition.

However, I know the previous 14CUX system also had circuits for the timer for the electric fan (outside of the radiator), plus some other little things. Likely the GEMS is the same way...it just means you need to make provisions for those missing circuits...find a wiring diagram and see what non-engine-control components are incorporated into the ECU; it shouldn't be too difficult to modify them to work without the ECU.
