I just goe this price from a local 4x4 shop, they do the work in house and warrenty work for one year, this job comes with new bearings and if i provide the seals, they go in for free, is this a good deal?, And how long will my stock axels last How long have yours lasted? Peter 97 D1 w\90K |

the stock axles will last til they break. if you got the cash to spend on the locker, save some future cash and upgrade the axles (i recommend GBR as a source). i have never had it happen, nut the experts say that if you snap those tiny lil land rover axles you may end up having to replace your new detroit. also if you have any gear changing plans you'll proberly save some gas money by having your shop do that change as well. good luck mike w |

Price is probably on par. Considering the locker is $500 and they are charging $150. I'm not so sure I'd be in a hurry to swap the axles though. If you are in high stress situations like rock-crawling, or wheeling on rock surfaces, then I'd certainly change the axles. I tend to wheel in mud and sand, and it is far more common for me to lose traction before I put enough traction to the ground to break an axle. As with most things, it all comes down to how you use your truck. -P |
