I am buying a roof rail based racking system for my other vehicle, and I want to make sure it fits my 97 Disco. Thule makes two rail mounted systems, the Railing Foot Pack and the Rapid Rail Carrier. Yakima sells the Low Rider. It would be much appreciated if people experienced with these systems would chime in. |

Search archives...several posts on this topic in the past week but they may have been about the gutter mount systems only. |

I did search the archives. Most roof rack posts are expedition style racks. The few posts that dealed with Thule or Yakima racks discussed the gutter style mounts which won't work with my other vehicle. I would like to get one system that fits both vehicles. |

Fyi, I was searching for a quick ski solution and found that the cross bars (d1) are the same dimension as the thule.. threw on just the ski adapter.. not a total solution, but works without the "system" $'s I have a spare mount yakima in the works for retrofit to the d1 bolt pattern as well, far easier access than the roof.. or the additional trailing depth of the hitch mounts |

I had the Yakima set up on my D1 before I picked up my LR rack. It worked fine. |
