It's my first time changing out these items and I was wondering if it is any more complicated than taking the old ones off and putting on the new ones.

Is there any kind of pressure release I need to worry about when changing out the fuel filter?

Anything more special about changing rover brakes other than unbolting the calipers, pull old pads, compress caliper pistons, fit new pads, re-bolt caliper?

pull the fuse for the fuel pump (in the fuse block under the hood), start the truck and let it run until it dies. That's about the easiest way to de-preasurise the fuel lines. Brakes are pretty straight forward.

Carter, is it bad to let the truck run out of gas. I was always told it was.

Hmm, not sure I guess but I've used that trick lots of times on lots of cars and never had a problem.

The shop manual describes this method as the correct one (pull fuel relay not fuse) and let truck run out of fuel. It does no harm.

You don't want to run a vehicle out of gas because of the sludge shit in the bottom of the fuel tank will clog up the injectors. The only other reason is you may get a little bit of air in the fuel line but that will be cleared up after a few seconds of running.

...Your not running the tank out of gas when you disconnect the fuel pump, just the line itself. There is no problem doing it this way.

I have been stranded in a '66 bronco because of the fuel filter. I took my nice little metal Zebra mechanical pencil apart and put it in place of the filter. Drove to a parts store to get another one with no problem, replaced the filter and put my pencil back together :-)

Unbolt caliper? Why?
