I don't even want to THINK about Blakes hairy ass right now.

Looking forward to seeing the tires on your truck, I've heard good things about those tires.

Try filling the keg up with beer next time :)

Since you just turned 21 and should'nt know how to properly use a keg. Don't pump the keg to much and be the jackass that made the keg foamy. my old man taught me how to properly use a keg when I was 15 so I would'nt make a jackass of myself and by the time I was 16 I was pouring perfect 10's everytime.

Blake,

Beer that resembles piss is not good beer. I think it's time you enjoyed some Abita Turbo Dog ale.

Happy Birthday dude.

Ummmm, Turbo Dog... that's my personal favorite. Do you know if they are still making the Abita Amber? That stuff was good too but I've never seen it here in Knoxville.. Later.. Rob

guiness is my brand of choice. the first thing I did was go to a bar and get 3 pints.

A_great_day_indeed
Our first attempts resulted in a mix of the two with almost no lines of seperation......but it was damn good beer though. Can anyone offer any tips on keeping the beers seperated (pouring, spoon-bending, etc.)

lol...no problem...I'd be happy to help with such a grand lesson in life

step one: tip the glass and pour the Bass/Harp with no foam

step two: using a spoon that is bent as mine above so you can hold the handle down in the glass with the concave side up hold the spoon just on top of the Tan beer surface.

step three: slowly pour the Black layer(Guinness)into the spoon so it fills the spoon and slowly flows out onto the surface of the tan as the level comes up raise the spoon and follow the surfase up to the top when its full slowly torn the spoon and remove from glass.

Step four: Enjoy!!!

And if you screw it up just let it sit, they will seperate over time.

Seriously though, you've got me craving one of those things now. Think I'm gonna have to make the 25 min. trip to the liquor store (damn dry county) after class, pick up some Bass and Guinness, and decimate a spoon.

Concave up? Hmmm........ I would have had it convex up, and let it roll off the spoon...

I'm with Leslie, convex side up. Musky, when I saw your spoon, I did a double take, wondering what side you used... Either way though, it comes out good!

Oh, yeah! turing into a technical discussion!

:)

Ratts....I have been doing it all wrong. Been drinking Ice House since I got out of the Corps. Now that is beer. I think it is 6.5% and cheep too. Eliphant ale is aother doosy. Of course a Vodka martini, just a bit dirty will do the trick too.

well it seams I'm wrong

Quote:

I have had success pouring the Harp or Bass vigorously so that it develops a good head. Using a Black & Tan spoon, pour the Guinness slowly over the back of the spoon. It will remain layered for some time. (You can make your own by bending the bowl of a spoon back so that when you lower it into the glass, the bowl is concave down.)

taken from here

but yet I have seen lots of people do it this way concave down and not produce a good seperation?

and I really cant remember the last time I messed one up? and I poured them 10 to 20 times a night for a lota years.(bartended my way thru school)

thats it more research...I think I need to make one right now:)

second try, not as good seperation, but i'll get there. It was good though, as always.
If I used bass ale, would it make a difference? The second pic is the Guinness post-enjoyment phase.

concave down & you can pour faster

too much turbulence with concave up - fluid is "ejected" out of the spoon, but it can be done with slow steady hand (as Musky knows....10-20 per night? you damn lush :))

Carter Simcoe (Carter)

Yeah I just did the experement too, I was able to get a nice stack both ways but concave up was a little bit easier.

Or you can try the Neo black and tan method, where "there is no spoon".
