I posted about 2 weeks ago about my wreck with a benz. Originally, I thought I had suffered no damage other than the endcap getting busted, but Iwas under my truck yesterday and noticed a few things.

I took a tape measure and measured the distance between the frame rails and the ground, on flat ground. The side where I got hit was about an inch lower than the side I didn't get hit on.

I got hit right on the passenger side endcap from a lower car, and it pushed up. But that is the side that is lower.

Has anybody ever measured the distance between their frame rails and the ground to see if both sides are equal?

What else besides the frame being bent could cause the passenger side frame rail to be closer to the ground? And it's only in the back, towards the front they are the same distance from the ground.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Rovers tend to lean to one side, which would also cause the frame etc to be lower on one side.
Take look at the truck overall and you'll see what I mean- also measure from the ground to the lower lip of the wheel arch

Thanks, Chris. I'm familiar with the lean. When I put on the emu suspension, I took most of the lean out; there was just a little in the front.

I didn't measure from the wheel arch to the ground, but I measured from the tire to the wheel arch, and there's less room on that passenger side.

I think it's more than just the regular rover list.

Check all of the doors for alignment. If they all open and close properly then your frame is probably not bent. Also, look at the body mounts (where the body mounts to the frame). If they are all vertical (i.e, not stressed), then I'd say your frame is just fine. The frame is pretty stout and can take a pretty good wack. If in doubt, take it to a good automotive body repair shop. They'll know.

Thanks,
Mike B.
