I was just sitting here looking through a Toyota parts catalog and was wondering what a Disco would look like with a set of those protection bars that go from the bullbar up around the front fenders and under the doors.

Anybody done this? Any reasons whY I shouldn't?

a buddy had the ARB ones on a landcruiser and they made a ton of noise on the highway, about twice as loud as a roof rack...he ended up pulling them off except fpr brush bashing

yep thats the same noisy ones he had...lol..looks like his old truck

I think its because where they are in relation to the cab..then again those old FJ's dont have much soundproofing.

To each his own.

I bet you could get some fabbed up pretty easily though.

Would it serve any real purpose?

I guess it would if you run into things. Even if it was just once.

Hmmm...I might have a new project...

If you already have sliders it would be REALLY easy to make them.

I think they are used for handicap access to the cab...Perhaps I'm mistaken...

I had a set on a GQ Nissan Patrol I once owned (It was bought second hand with them on). The side bars continued down to form the base of the side steps, which were bolted to the underside of the car in 5 (?) spots.

They do form further protection for the front panels of the car; they are also supposed to assist in preventing the bar from rotating back after hitting something.

The only time they ever came in useful to me was the time I was too busy concentrating on backing a trailer and hit a verandah post. No damage to the car...had to replace the verandah post.
