My 1991 RRC has problems locking from the outside. I have to turn the key very hard to get it to lock all of the doors, and this only works some of the time. From the inside the central locking works just fine. Question is: Is it my door lock or is it the door lock actuator that needs to be replaced?

hae you tried lubing it?

if that didnt work there are little plastic clips on the actuator that might have broken, thus causing it to work sometimes.

Try spraying WD40 down in between the actual door lock and the door. I tried this on my rr and it seemed to make it a little easier to lock

Huh? What? I thought that's how it was *supposed* to work? I've got one that doesn't go down with the central and one that doesn't go up. Oh yeah, and the back doesn't always work without using a key. :-)

My question is about the platic clips on the actuator Rob mentioned above. I too had found that it was getting harder & harder to turn the key on the drivers side door to lock the car. Spraying some lubricatnt helped for a short time only. From inside the car the central locking worked fine as did using the keyless remote..untill now!!

Now whats happening is even when using the keyless remote, the drivers door lock won't go down unless I first insert the key into the drivers door and turn it very hard to begin to get it to start going down, remove the key and then press the keyless remote to "lock". Does this sound like brolen plastic clips on the actuator and drivers door actuator needs replacing? Thnaks for any help for this problem.
