Can anyone offer any advice on where to begin on a '94 D1 (103K) with a recent SRS light coming on?
If this is any kind of clue: The last "S" in SRS seems to "pulse" -bright, then dim, with about the same frequency as a turn signal would blink.
Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Jim

Me too, Dealer says fault in passenger side module. I'm not planning on fixing it anytime soon. I plan on getting the electrical troubleshooting manual and when I do maybe then I'll try to trace out the fault. Hopefully it will just be a bad ground/connection/fuse.

What I'm really hoping for is that I will be able to pass Virginia inspection with blinking SRS and ABS lights this May. Yikes.

Mine '95's doing the same thing, but the flashing stops after the trucks been running for a while. In addition, the instrument illumination and the tail lights went out at the same time as the SRS light came on, so I assume they're all related problems.

I guess it's off to the •••••••••••...

Don't panic. My 95 had the last "S" pulsing. Only the dealer can reset it with "Testbook" software. Charged me $70 to reset though. Computer says "low voltage"- (I'm legend in Dweb searching for dead battery due to phantom back drain). Hasn't happened again as I either charge battery often or disconnect.

Any new batteries among you?

'96 had same problem. SRS and ABS lights were pulsing with turn signal and would stop after warmup.
Problem was incorrect routing of serpentine belt which caused alternator slippage under load when cold. (the cold weather made it worse).

Corrected belt routing and all electrical gremlins went away. Gad, I love cheap fixes to problems that appear expensive!

My SRS light came on immediately after I installed an aftermarket stereo. As a bonus, my interior lights stopped working and my clock resets everytime I start the disco, open the door, or flip the interior dome light switch.
Evidently I did something wrong when I installed the stereo. Probably cut a wire. My SRS light flashes every now and then.

I have 94 Disco (148K miles) with SRS and Check engine light). The Pioneer dealer in San Diego fixed the SRS and charge me $25.00 but that was two years ago. Now it's back again with the check engine. I have to check the ECU this weekend.

The Low down on the Lights - When installing a new battery, new stereo, or new alarm that is not Land Rover Genuine, usually a lighjt will come on indicating that land rover wanted you to buy their expensive part and have it installed by a over priced tech. The SRS Light - mine came on a week after I bought my 95 DI from the dealer. They clear the code on it and it can only be done so many times before you just put some Electrical Tape over the light - Problem Solved. ABS Light - My brakes work fine - Electrical Tape over the Light - Problem Solved. Check Engine Light - My truck runs great - Electrical Tape Over the Light - Problem Solved.

I bought a roll of Electrical Tape at the dollar store and it has fixedd more problems on my truck than the dealership has.

I'm with Warren on this one, classic Brit sensors - the system is probably fine. It could be the wiring harness for the air bag or a drop in battery voltage per other posts, it is more likely to be a sensor in the steering column, on the early D1's if you pull on the column too hard it can set the sensor off. It happens to my '95 now and again, fortunately I have a friend who is a indie LR mechanic so he clears the code for me but when he's not around apply one square cm of black tape. BTW it pulses for the first 5 mins to get your attention, bloody annoying!

How long does it take for the light to burn out? Don't feel like messing with airbag circuit.

Shawn, can you please elaborate on the serpentine issue. I'm getting a weird squealing noise while my tach stays at about 750 rpm. Sometimes the squealing stops and the tach returns to normal. It sounds like the belt is slipping when I turn on the A/C (just to listen for changes). VOltage regulator may be going bad. SRS light coincided with the squealing so power issue may be at hand.

Just pull the damn light bulb out. Just keep in mind that without it the AirBags wont work. But if thats fine with you, as it is with me, then pull your instrument cluster out and pull the bulb out.

And speaking of the airbags not working, I'm sneaking up on the 10 year mark when they're supposed to be "serviced".

I'd like to "service" the blasted things into the junk pile (!) but I'm a little leery of setting the things off.

Any ideas on how to safely access these explosive things that ride around under my chin?

Seems to be alot of prblems with the SRS system (currently my SRS light is on due to "improper fuse changing). The nearest Rover dealer is 2 hours away and I havnt had a chance to go there to get it reset. Anybody know if Rover has ever been sued by someone who got hurt in an accident and the SRS system was on the fritz due to Rovers insistance with using the testbook system. You'd think by now they would have offered a way around a testbook besides spending $5000 to get one.
