Before you say "not another warranty question", here is a specifc question not in the archives...

Has any purchased a Land Rover extended warranty for a D2? My LR salesman gave me pricing on a LR certified/plus warranty and the option I was interested in was the 7 years/100K product. The MSRP was $1,560 (subject to negotiation) which did not seem to bad ($100 deductible). Upon further quizzing I found out the LR EW is run through a comapny called APCO (Automobile Protection Corp), something apparantly Ford arranged.

Question: has anyone purchased a 7/$100K warranty via LRNA? If so, what was the final purchase price?

Any other thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks
Jeff

Nope, I bought an aftermarket one specifically so I would not HAVE to go to the stea1ership for repairs. I have a mechanic I trust, and this lets me go to him instead of being shackled to LRNA.

We bought the extended warranty on the Freelander at time of sale. If I recall, that pricing area sounds about right and it's considerably cheaper than waiting until the end of the inital basic warranty to extend it. Compare it to the LR X-warranty I bought for our D1 in June/July right at the end of the original coverage that cost me $2000 more.

Keep in mind that 7/yr is only 3 years beyond your factory 4 yr.

My service tech told me that because of all the mods to my truck, the scrutiny is almost unpenetratable as the first question they'll ask is.."Does the truck have any mods" and if the answer is yes, the claim is fought with vigor. Not sure if this is true or not, but he talked me out of it.

I figure that even at the MSRP of $1,560, this seems pretty reasonable for a few extra years and almost 40K of additional coverage.

I would think that this would be money well spent!

My only concern on the LR EW is that it seems to be cheaper than some aftermarket/third party warranties.

Seems odd...

I bought the 7 year/100000 extended warrantee with my 2000 Disco II. The cost was around the same - $1549.

One thing I didn't know about the warrantee was that it covers some of the maintenance....like last week I went in for the 30K service, which should have been about $500-600, and I got it for free because of the extended warrantee.

Don't know if every dealer does this, but I wasn't about to complain!
