Does regearing if you have larger tires actually improve fuel mileage? Just wondering... Hunter |

You might stay off the gas peddle a bit with lower gears... Other than that, it seems to be worse on the highway.. |

I regeared an old Jimmy diesel from 3.5(something) to 4.11 after I put 33 inch tires on it. That rig picked up 3 mpg on the highway because it was not lugging and dropping out of OD on the grades. Yeah, I know it's not a LR, but the idea is the same. Get the rpm back to where LR intended it to be. |

yep john is right on the money you need to match the gearing to the tire size and the torque band of the motor. also you must take in count the fact most people are putting larger tires on at the same time they regear the new bigger heavier tires drop mileage by alot so when you regear after the fact you still arent likely to get back to where stock was. |

Depends on which way you go in ratio, higher or lower ;-) |

Do you have to replace the carrier when getting new gears in the Rovers? |
