I searched the archeives but I didn't find any info though I know it is there... My truck needs a new rotoflex according to my dealer, and since it has been hit offroading it is not covered under warranty of course. So I was thinking that this was a good time to replace the whole damnn thing. What it the word on the trail regarding the Bill's Great Basin Rover U joint kit for the DSII? Is there any negative sides of getting this installed. Do I dare road and offroading without my rubber? Any input is appreciated, thanks. Carl |

Sorry if you mis-understood. I'm not interrested in converting to U-Joint. I'm replacing my existing Rotoflex and want to get any tips on that. I used the rotoconversion tech to help understand the process a little, but it naturally does not deal with putting a new Roto back in. -Lawrence |

On my D1 I put on the double cardan rear drive shaft from GBR about two years ago. I've been happy with it, except it was out of balance when I received it and spent another $30 getting it rebalanced. I haven't talked to GBR about a $30 credit or anything yet. I changed tires and wheels at the same time I put on the drive shaft and noticed the vibration. Thought it was the tires (after all, it was a brand new shaft) and after alot of switching of tires, wheels and stuff, I finally found someone who could check the shaft for balance. So, IMO, only change one thing at a time. |

How did you tell that it was out of balance and where did you get it balanced? |

I had a bad vibration after installing it. Kije I said, I changed tires and wheels at the same time, so I assumed it was the wheel tire combo. After being unable to resolve it, I took the drive shaft off and took it to a local shop and had it checked. The welded on a weight, vibration gone. Don't get me wrong, I'm not critisizing GBR, at least not yet. Any mfg. can make a mistake, and this is all I've bought from Bill. |
