I have a 93 Disco with the older LT77 gearbox installed and was wondering what the best oil for these is. The manual recomends ATF fluid but there seems to so many types available. I was thinking maybe one of the new synthetic types. Any comments would be grately appreciated |

Redline MTL (Manual Transmission Lubricant) is a synthetic fluid similar to ATF, but specifically designed for manual transmissions. I tried Amsoil synthetic ATF in my R380, but it was too slick -- the synchros didn't engage properly a lot of times. The MTL works a lot better and is supposed to be the best thing you can put in a Rover manual transmission. Check the Redline website. It's made in the US but they probably export to NZ. ---Norm |
