Well, as you can gather from the title my driver's side wiper has decided it doesn't want to work anymore. If this has been beat to death allready feel free to flame me :) (my internet connection is running on the slow side today and having a bitch of a time searching and pulling up the archives).

I've done the idiot level stuff like making sure it isn't frozen but it's cold, snowing, and I don't have a garage so I'm not ready to go tear it apart yet. Anyone have any experience with anything similar? Got any info to give me so I can ponder over it while I wait for the snow to stop? Any tips on how to get it apart?

Thanks alot,
-Carter

check that little nut that connects the arm to the base coming out of the cowl. That can loosen up if you try move heavy snow with the wiper.

Hmmmm, sounds like the problem because the lever is still moving but the wiper isn't but I can't find this nut. Where is it exactly and whats the best way to get at it.

its under the plastic cover thing on a d1. Its alot easier on a d2. I just went out to look at one, and I think you have to pry of that plastic cover at the base of the arm. If you look close enough you can see the sneaky nut hiding in there..

So what you are saying is I should pry the whole wiper arm off (can that be done??), undo the big nut, remove that plastic collor and attack the problem from above???

Man I'm an idiot, that turned out to be the easiest fix ever. I can't believe I couldn't figure that out and spent half the day w/ out the wiper. Thanks for the diagnosis Gil, and also to Will for sending me the page from the workshop manual (looks like its time to get one of my own, that Haynes wasn't worth shit for this problem).
