Hey, Seems like a silly question (and it prob is), but what is it that makes an engine run rough when it's cold out? My 95 Disco runs great off the start when over 40 degrees, but has poor response for the first 3-5 mins when starting cold. Is there anything i can do to make this better? Using 15w30 penzoil in the engine. Thanks, Hunter |

How cold is cold? If it is really cold (below 0 degrees on a routine basis) get a block heater. cneal. |

Hunter One advantage in synthetic oils is that they don't thicken up as much when cold. So you might try 10W-30 Mobil 1 to loosen things up. The fuel map of the CUX type EFI system really over fuels on a cold engine. Minor problems on a stone cold engine can lead to flooding/poor running. One benefit of rechipping this ECU is to eliminating cold start over fueling problems. You can also try replacing the ECU's coolant temp sensor. This sensor could be causing your problem, and it's cheap and easy to replace. There's an awful lot of things on an engine that can change just a little bit in 8 years. Just try to maintain all those wires and hoses. Randall |
