I have noticed it takes much longer for these forums to load than almost any other site I visit. I use a dial-up connection and typically have connections of a little over 50K.

WTF?

Why are these pages different? There aren't any huge graphics. I think there needs to be a change in the way the pages are set up.

Comments?

Ya, I posted another thread a few days ago regarding slow connection and sometimes no connection to DWeb.

Most likely just a glitch cause by a group of Borrowers. Sometimes they settle into a server to get warm and it botches things up for a while. They are harmless and generally don't cause any damage.

Yeah... noticing it too and we're hooked up to OC-48's and OC-192's. I thought the move last month was done to help things along. Is the host getting bogged down now that the network has been upgraded?

This should take care of those issues.

You know if I gave it to you then I would feel obligated to give it to everyone who asked and I would still like to go out in public sometimes without people swarming me for autographs so I'm afraid I must respectfully decline. :)

If you are really interested in this sort of thing wait and bid against Karen when I start putting my used black and tan spoons on ebay. :) :)

I'll let the winning bidder decide. Yeah, I'll probablly get busted for this thing when they notice periods of increased numbers of missing soup spoons coincide with increased visits from me. :)

ha ha, thats great :)

yeah, I've got an account and the more you guys talk about it the more I'm thinking about actually doing it. Ebay-fiend-Karen should be good for at least $10 even if no one else bids. :)

Musky,

You need to bear gifts. Maybe it's black and tan time? Hurt feelings call for serious effort. If B&T fails to smooth things over, send chocolate!

Karen :)

Version 3.1 of Discus which we were running, did not have a database back end. Therefore the board would slow down when the amount of conversattions in a topic grew above a certain number. Version 4.01 which we are running now, has been optimized fix some of these performance issues. Version 4.01 also can be configured to run with a MySQL back end. We are planning to install MySQL on the server, and when that upgrade happens, performance should improve. Connection speed to DiscoWeb has nothing to do with BBS performance

Yikes, I didin't even think about the backend limitations of Discus 3.1. I've been running 4.x myself so the flat file limitation didn't cross my mind. Then again the board I'm running isn't as busy. When are you adding MySQL?
