Just finished reading some posts that went unanswered, and a few of them were from "newbies", so I thought I would be the first to ask if maybe the "powers that be" could add a F.A.Q's topic for all the newcomers to the Discoweb- It dawned on me that this could even bring more Mall Crawlers to the fold, and further the MEMBERSHIP, And Support Dollars- I was at the gas station yesterday, and for the first time a Land Rover Discovery S1 owner inquired about the Discoweb.org sticker. He wasn't aware of the websites existence, he only knew about RoversNorth, and AB- Anyway, he's a nearby neighbor, and of course I was next to him at the local Xtra long traffic light this afternoon, and he said he checked out the site, and thought it was cool, but I got the feeling he didn't get it- So I checked the General topic, and he has a post that went south( I'm sure its the same person)- His question was simple in it's relation to our sometimes "hardcore offroad" topics, but I think because he didn't get a response, we've lost a potential member, and thats another "stock NAKED Land Rover". Maybe I'm reaching, but I just thought I would ask- Hey, for some of you purists, I'm to blame for requesting the Range Rover Topic section- Ok, I'm walking out the door with my back facing the door, just in case some of you want to web attack me for asking- |

94Rover, You DO understand this would mean Leslie would have to, like, WORK while he's at work, rather than answering the same questions over and over, don't you? I think an FAQ section is a really good idea. Perhaps there could be links to archived discussions, and then when new folks read those, if they still have questions, they could ask them in the new discussions area. Karen |

There is a FAQ already, it's in the tech section. Also, as messages gets archived, they are sorted in alphabetichal order, the idea being that it is easier to find a topic that way. Unfortunately, a lot of people - newbies especially - don't take the time to search trough the information that is already on the site, it's easier to just post the same question over and over. |

I agree with Ax here. There is so much crap here already I sometimes run up on things I had completely forgot were there. I try to answer those posts that never get a response but some of that responsibility lies with you guys... Slackers..... Kyle |

Perhaps a "list of terms" link. Ex: ODBII GEMS HDC CDL I know, we should all have the shop manual but for the newbies it would be great. Just a thought. |

Actually, I just changed the rain gages... Between 6am Saturday and Noon on Monday, 5 1/2 inches fell down here in this end of the state.... Too much rain in too short a period. The creek in front of my house was a river on Monday morning. Most of the river-gage stations in the area were reporting in just shy of the '77 floods... Actually, I do a lot of work, it just happens that 80% of what I do is done on the computer, and I'm decent at multi-tasking.... I'll have Word open on one monitor, typing out comments about a permit application lying on my desk, while my other monitor has D-web open....

If you guys want a FAQ, write one. If the current one doesn't meet the needs, do a search on all the hot topics, stick them in a word document and email it in for the Tech section. Asking the discoweb folks to do such a painstaking process is asking too much. They are already hosting the site... One good idea, however, would be a bigger link maybe on the home page or up on top that links to the FAQ section. Also, if you see a newbie question that you know is in the FAQ, don't answer it, give them the link. They will probably enjoy reading all the topics then. Tom |

hehe, yeah "hardcore offroad topics" must be 16 to reply...... Well guys and gals, just wanted to see how the mass would take to the question. I honestly forgot about the tech section.....gee, got to get out and start posting some "how to's" for the Classic owners.... One day I am going to contact someone over at http://www.clearchannel.com and see if they will consider adding a link from the CC Family outdoor section to discoweb...... |
