Who's seen Discoweb stickers around town?

I posted this up at EE a while back, but am still interested to see who's seen 'em.

We all know that you see your own stickers every day, so don't count your own!

(And if you don't see a Discoweb sticker on your own Disco every day, please take a moment and ask yourself why there isn't a Discoweb sticker on your rig.)

The ONLY DW stickers I see are on my Disco, and one on my PC at work.

Not seen any others here in the UK (Midlands). Still looking though.

Breaking News! I did have a fellow Disco driver (in a Silver 96/97 ES) return a wave over the weekend! Also had a nod from a D90 on Sunday too.

I have been looking for them here in Charlotte.
Nothing yet.

There must be a trend starting Horness. I have had a couple return waves here too.

Most of the Disco's I see in the Philly area are "stickerless" and the hot blonde in the blue DII did not wave back.

Good call. I just have to figure out the logistics of presenting the sticker while driving down I-95. She might freak out when she sees me roll in fighter style!

Horness, what are you doing that others are waving back? Usually here, they are too busy on their cell phones to even look over. No eye contact or anything!

I drove to Virginia Beach to visit my folks this weekend, tried to wave at other disco owners, no luck. I think they think I'm crazy. Meanwhile, my fiance trails behind me in his j**p (we took both so we could take some furniture back), and every other j**per we pass honks and waves, I mean hanging half way out the side of their j**ps!

Oh, well, I'll just keep on trying.

God, I already got a tutorial on that...trust me. It has been drilled into me that when I am driving that j**p (I try to have mine last one in the driveway, but in the offchance that he gets home after me, there are times I say F*** it and drive his to the store LOL LOL), I must wave to every single j**p out there. Why couldn't he have just gotten a D90? LOL

The real issue is the area we live in.. People here buy rovers so that they seem important and hope that people will envy them as it sits in the drive.. I wave, but, rarely do I get a wave back.. I have yet to have anybody driving a new Range Rover or a Defender wave back.. SO far only a few Discos and almost all the Rangie clasics wave back.. I have only passed one Series and he about waved his hand off at me..

All the taxi cab drivers wave at me...especially when I cut them off...

Hey John,

On March 2nd, a very rainy Saturday night; a middleastern Philly Cab guy tried to pass me on the left while I was driving on a one lane street. The left wing of my LR Plastic bumper left a black mark from his head light to the tail light. All I had was yellow paint residue on the bumper.

I didn't get the chance to wave. However, I verbally communicated with him eye to eye. If I had a sticker on me, I would have gladly applied it to the cab!

ya, I'm looking at three monitors right now.. Big one right in front of me, smaller one to the left, and a SUN monitor to the right... Good thing that I got a big desk.. The real fun is when the help desk folks come around and try to figure out which keyboard/mouse is for which PC..

Now I have yet to see another Rover in this county, than alone having a sticker on it. Talk about small world... I gotta get my nose off this screen and out my window!

I try to wave at every Rover I see and actually had a Range Rover driver wave to me first right after I got my new Disco. I've been so used to waving at other Harley's while riding, it was natural to wave at Disco's. I live in the Seattle area and there seems to be a few Land Rover here.

yep paul we were just up with on a R.O.V.E.R.S. event at a hunting camp on 1500 acres that a memeber is part owner of. i use to live up in analomink years ago and am familiar with that area. but there were about 30-40 rovers up there last weekend. you would have not likely seen us unless you were hanging out at Calico's diner in Canadensis.
check out the club website for future events at http://www.roversclub.com or better yet get a membership by getting in touch with Bill B. here on the board.

ps: be careful what you eat at Calico's. i think 7 of us got sick there. ewwww.

Axel,

Thanks for the reassurance. I feared the worst, that after much experimentation, it was discovered that DiscoWeb stickers did NOT improve gas mileage, nor take years off our chronlogical age. I trembled thinking they could be following Kyle's bumper out The Window! WHEW! I can sleep tonight.

Hold on just a second KJ...After I put the discoweb sticker on my Freeloader, I felt younger and it now gets 21.3 MPG compared to the 21.25 it got when it was new..Now your sayin' there's no truth in it...what's this world coming to.

Oh, not to worry David, it was all just a HUGE misunderstanding on my part! Better mileage, better looks, better sex, and for this crowd, better BEER after applying the DiscoWeb stickers! And now I have another line to steal:

"Everyday in a Rover is a day added to the end"

I'll drink to that!

Craig,

I can't tell you how irritated my wife was to have you honk at the Discoweb sticker. She really hates it when my obsession with the British Motor Car is reinforced.

I saw you coming up behind me, but had to get off the road to see a movie there in beautiful downtown Capitola.

You're the first person who's seen and responded to the sticker - and I must see and be seen by about 20 Land Rover drivers every day.

The little green sticker does tend to separate the poseurs from the die-hard Solihull fans. I didn't see your plates, are you local? If so, NCRC has been putting on quite a few outings of late - perhaps we'll run into each other off the pavement sometime!

Cheers

Erik

Erik-

That's funny about seeing me come up behind you. I came up quick, noticed the Discoweb sticker, but waited until I was certain that was what I thought it was. My contacts get dry after running trails, so i was having some trouble focusing specifically on the sticker.

I was unable to make the most recent mud run, but I went on the last Hollister outing (non-NCRC organized) with Lance and Mike. I was on my way back from Big Sur with a friend of mine. He wanted to go for a drive in my new DSII, and I wanted to check out the fire roads up there. The pics are in my gallery.

Sorry to hear about your wife! :) My girlfriend just shakes her head and lets me do my thing. She is completely understanding, and even hits the trails with me sometimes.

And speaking of local, I live in Hayward, near Rojas (Rovercon), and I work in Berkeley.

Craig,

I'm in beautiful Oakland, California and work in the City. Actually, my wife is letting me go on the Border to Border TA02 Trek in September and has allowed me a generous allowance for mods between now and then.

We should try to hook up sometime for a Cow Mtn. run with Mike. I've got new twins at home, so sometimes just getting a coffee is about all I have time for!

Cheers,

e

Erik-

Sometimes just sitting down for a beer is good as well! Where are you located in Berkeley?

I'm not very well equipped at the moment for a mud run, but I've never been to Cow Mtn. I had a good time at Hollister, and would love to play there again.

I'm working on a CB installation on the weekend of April 13, but we should have a beer in the meantime!

They asked if I knew you. I said, yup, he's one of the guys that pulled my truck out of Azusa last year.

Then I thought about, damn, I can't remember what he looks like! hehehe
