I traded in my d1 for a new d2 in Dec. Bought the new one at Ascot Imported Cars, outside Pittsburgh, PA.

Ascot never sent the payoff for the d1 to the bank. 4 months later, all my money is gone, checks are bouncing, and I don't know why. After some careful financial forensics work of my checking account, I discover Ascot never paid off my previous loan, and I am being billed by 2 banks for both loans.

Ascot finally sent the payoff and refunded my money, but then said see you, so sad.

Bottom line, Ascot sucks, stick with Land Rover Centers for new cars, and never let the wife balance your check book with the bank statements.

I second that. If you want the convenience of having your bills paid automatically each month, find a bank that offers online banking, or let you submit your payments from your pc. My bank, (which I also work for) has an online setup which let me set up automatic recurring payments each month through a secure web page. This lets me retain control in that I can cancel those recurring pyments whenever I want. I can also submit payments to be paid in the future, which lets me go away on vacation and not have to worry about having to mail in payments on a certain date.

Working for a financial institution (credit union), I can personally say automatic debit sucks. Notorious to these things are companies like AOL and gym/fitness membership. Often times, even if the accounts are closed, they still try/attempt to process a debit. I don't deal with that directly but from what I hear, attempting to stop it is a big pain in the ass!

Just to clarify, I was not talking about automatic debits, I was talking about electronic payments initiated by me. It's like writing a check, but it happens electronically. If the payee can't accept electronic payments, the bank will send a check on your behalf.

I agree with using the online banking's recurring payment. My bank (Wells Fargo) has an excellent and easy to use online banking system. The bill payment is one of the best I have ever used and I haven't write any check for a long time. Ok,enough for advertising.

Hey Tom,

from Pittsburgh as well (fox chapel area). Where did you get your D1 fixed when you had it. Hate going to Ascot cause unless you bring a truckload of money down from Sewickley Heights, they don't give you the time of day. Just curious, did you get a good deal on your new disco. When I was looking, the were unrealistic with their prices.

Thanks, John

JOhn,

I went to ascot, but now anymore. Akron LR Cetner is only a 2 hour drive, and I will do that in the future.
