Today I went up to Camarillo (Port Hueneme) to pick up the tires and wheels off the 2002 D110 for Puddles, my IIA. The wheels are 16" x 5.5" Dunlops and the tires are Michelin XPC 4x4's in 7.5R16. Perfect!

The truck they came off is a 2002 D110 TD5 diesel. The owner wanted alloys, not the original steel wheels (his loss, my gain). The truck is BRAND NEW. Still had plastic on the seats, over the gear shifts, and steering wheel. If you want one and can register it outside California (they are legal in all other states), it will only set you back $60k.

I've attached a pic of the truck taken in the UK before it shipped over. It's beautiful up close.

The importer also has the following:

11 x 2001 BRAND NEW Mini Coopers (the very last of the old style). These are only $48,500. The other 39 he had sold for $62~67,000 as they had more options. These are the very last off the production line before the BWM change and come with certificates of authenticity signed my Cooper.

9 x BWM Z8's

1 x Mercedes A class wagon

1 x SMART car

2 x Audio RC 460 wagons

I could only stare... I sat in a few and knew where my lotto money was going when I win. Alas, at the time, my wallet was far far too empty for such toys...

Did you ask the guy how he is getting around the import / DOT laws. Did he make it DOT compliant. I doubt it...

Nice rig, I too want to win the lottery! :-)

How's he getting around it? Not sure, but I'm thinking something about the approximately $20k in fees he paid has something to do with it....

No doubt!

I wonder if the Brits think were insane paying that much for a truck to use on the farm!

$60k is a scary amount for the truck, but with used 110's going in the $40k range...

If (and that's a big if) I wanted blow that much on a Rover, I know I'd rather spend $60k this truck then a new RR3.

I do know the 110 that I saw cost about $35K US to buy. It only costs about $1200 to ship the truck. I'm sure the importer added a few bucks for his worth. The rest went into DOT and importation fees. I have no idea on the breakdown, the paper work involved, etc. Just that it's not cheap by any stretch of the imagination.

The truck itself appears pretty much unchanged from the early 1990's 110's I've had the chance to peek in and around.

The importer also has the crew cab 130's enroute. I have no idea how much he's going to charge for those.

I laughed. I cried. I fell down. It changed my life.
