I've started hearing this noise coming from the right front wheel area. It sounds like something is rattling around. I crawled under there today and there's nothing loose, and everything is in order. It's not a loud noise, just persistent. It seems to be more promenent over bumps. I guess what I'm wondering is could it be something in the axle? I don't know what a problem there would sound like, so any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance. John '95 D1 |

jp, sounds to me like your wheel bearing is loose. If you have never worked on the thing before it is not real difficult but you will need a clip tool and a great big wheel nut wrench. (im sure someone knows the size. You will need to take your caliper and rotor off then you will get to the first nut. Remove that one and the spacer behind it and you will see the next nut. This is the one that is probably loose. There are probably torque specifications but I always tightenit to whereit feels right. This is a lot of work so you will want to make sure that is the problem. You might jack up the truck and see if you can feel any play in your wheels. Try with a hand at 12:00 and 1 at 6:00. then try one at 9:00 and 3:00 and so on. You get the idea. Check both wheels. Good luck. Hope this solves your problem. brian |

if the wheel is loose then the bearings are going bad, do a keyword search for wheel bearings to find the different part numbers. they are made by a number of companies so there are a few part numbers. those same posts will have the torque spec. |
