I have a 1991 3.5 V8 Disco, and due to a lack of oil in my gearbox I have destroyed the input pinion and layshaft. I was thinking about fitting a new R380 box instead of rebuilding the LT77S, are their any problems with this? or should I spend my money fixing what I have?

Check Ashcroft Transmissions -- they've got rebuilt R380s that are supposed to be better than the new factory units, which should be strong enough to handle your 3.5.

Swapping your destroyed LT77s for a reconditioned R380 will cost you £50 more than a reconditioned LT77s
So I just say Go for it!
