I'm getting ready to make ABS extensions for my rear sensor lines. The lines are just a little too tight at full extension and they make me nervous. I don't have extended brake lines yet so I'm wondering how long I should make the extensions. I don't want to buy brake lines later and find out that I made the extensions too short. Any measurements from those of you who have already created extensions would be appreciated. Also, lets keep the discussion of measurements restricted to ABS extensions. |

Bump. One of you lifted, extended brake line, rovertym springs, extended travel shock, big ass tire guys has to own a tape measure. I'm planning to make them tonight so any input is good. Even telling me how long the normal extended brake lines are for the DII would help. I can figure out the difference between them and stock and go from there for the ABS extension length. Thanks Rick |

Well, I've heard that one set of brake lines from a D2 can be used on the other end. Don't remember if it's front or rear, but which ever is the longer of the front or rear, should be the same length as the aftermarket for the other end. If that in some small way helps......... |

Rick, I have the Rovertym 3" no sway on the front and the stock lines for the front are long enough(removed from harnesses). Still a few inches slack at full extension. The rear lines are close to being tight at full extension WITH the sway bar so those definitely need lenghtening at least for me before I take the sway loose. Say 5-7" minimum to be safe. Might as well make them long enough so you can zip tie them with the extended brake lines to make it clean(You did extend brake lines right?). Aaron |

Thanks, Greg. That gives me a starting point for measurements. I had forgotten about the fronts being longer than the rears. Rick |

Aaron, I've found that with OME shocks on the rear and the sway bar removed, I am very tight on the ABS lines but the brake lines still have some travel left. I plan to extend the brake lines later as I play around with the suspension more. That's why I'm looking for input on how long the ABS extensions should be. I don't want to add brake lines later and find that the ABS lines, with extensions, are too short again. Thanks for the input. Someone else guessed 6". I will also measure the front brake lines tonight and go from there. Rick |

If you are going to keep the normal OME shocks on the truck, do you really even need to extend the lines? I was under the impression that the shock would stop prior to the lines getting to their extension.......... |

Greg, that's what I'd heard too but I wanted to test things out awhile back. I disconnected the sway bars, jacked the truck up, put jack stands under the frame, and lowered each side of the axle to "full" extension while I watched the ABS and brake lines. The ABS lines were very taut and made me nervous. Especially after the nightmare of recently trying to track down a usable ABS sensor after trashing one. I didn't want a new hub so it wasn't easy finding just a sensor. Anyway, if I can get the ABS lines taut sitting in my garage, I don't want to take a chance with 5,000lb of bouncing truck. |

Did the sensors I sent you help? |

So far, they are my backup stash in case I screw this up and ruin a sensor. With any luck they will live a long happy life in my emergency kit. Thanks again for sending them. It give me some confidence that I can cobble something together if I make a mistake. |
