Wanted to know if any of you have experienced similar and what the cause might be.

When I first got the 95 D1 and until maybe two years ago, I was getting about 300-320 miles to the tank. Today, that has degraded to maybe 200 miles to the tank. Granted the D1 is now 8 years old and it has 157K miles on the original engine and it does have 245/75R16 tires, RTE 2" lift, RTE bumper and LR Adventure Rack Series 2.

Do the rest of you see this kind of mileage degredation as well?

Thanks

I can probably go 250 on a tank in city in my 99 D1 w/ 41k miles, maybe 300 highway with the wind at my back.

With my calculations based on my change in tire size to 235/85/16s, OME HD lift, winch bumper, sliders, etc., I'm getting around 14 mpg on the highway, which means I get around 250 or so miles per tank of gas. Oh, I've got a '96 D1 with 138k on the clock.

Degraded fuel milage is the result of many things, but most often the culprit of a severe drop is bad o2 sensors causing the truck to run rich. If these have not been changed, at 157K you may be due.

FWIW (not much) our '95 Disco with 90K usually gets 270-300 miles per tank...however since coming back to Vegas from Oregon over the break, we've been getting 300 to 330 per tank.

FYI, this has been talked about alot recently. Do a seach for more info but together with additives to the gas and the fact that we are driving Rovers...It can be bad. I drive a '00 DII and I get about 250 now and a year ago I was getting 300-320.

Not to hijack the thread, but I'd like to hear some more info on the purge valve error code. Is this strictly some emissions crap? Can it be fixed easily? Thanks.

In addition to lift, tires, and odometer calibration related to said tires...

A good old tune up, especially wires, brought the number back up for me.

My odometer recently quit, now I have infinite miles per gallon numbers.

Pull that roof rack off and you'll see an immediate improvement.....MPG always drops with lifts/and extra weight like winches and underbody protection

I am getting 300-330 city miles and 350-380 road miles on my Disco II 1999 (68K miles). no mods! but we have to be realistic that no matter how well we maintain the rover, eventually, is less efficient...no complaints! the rover gives me so much more in other ways that the gas issue can be easily overlooked!!
