I've looked thought the archives for the answers with no avail. Last night I dissembled the center console to expose the linkage. Everthing is moving but I cant get the CDL light to come on and the Diff to lock up. I have tried every suggestion I've read with no luck. I have in the past 9 months of owning this truck engaged the CDL 2 times. Each time it was a struggle but now every things lube up and moving freely and No GO. What Gives? -Doug |

are you sure you dont have a burned out indicator light in the dash? when it is in the locked position drive it in a tight circle and see if the tires start scruffing and feeding back. |

Also, if you engage it when the truck is off, are the TC and ABS lights coming on? Just wondering if it is registering any change at all........ |

I drove it last night on snowy roads, I'll give it a try right now on the pavement and see if there is any feedback. Greg, I was engaging it with the truck running. What is the TC indicator? -Doug |

Well I meant the traction control light and abs light. Do you have a Disco 1? If so, this doesn't apply. I assumed you were talking about a D2.............. Sorry for the confussion. |

Yes it's a 97 LSE Auto. I'm getting no indication its locked up when I'm full turn. (Dry Pavement) No Diff light on the dash, but I do get the neutral warring alarm. whoo hoo. |

What does it mean when that alarm comes on anyway? I've gotten it a few times while shifting the transfer case so I shift back in high unlocked then back to low locked and then it turns off. What is it trying to tell me? |

does linkage have deffinite detents to it ? or when you move it side to side does it just flop? also how far does it move? if it isnt going far enough left it wont lock. the fact you have only used it 2 times in the last 9mos it could be coroded and sticking short of engagement.

Thom, I loosened everything up when I had the center console opened up. I don't think its possable its not getting full articulation. When I had the linkage exposed the only thing that kept the lever from traveling further in either direction was the wall of the lever housing. When I move from side to side there is a notch feel to it (no Flop) and I was getting 1/4 + turn on the T case bolt. |
