Oh, I guess I missed that one little remark... hummm...

Yes, the Cruiser, and possibly an older mod 2-door G-wagon, are the only cars I would look at other than Land Rovers.

or

Great pricing, and you can't go wrong with MB quality.

Does the 85 2 door come with lockers too? I like that one. That would make a pretty sweet trail rig if it comes with lockers. I like the soft top.

Yes, I guess buying a German vehicle is one way to show your support for a country that doesn't support you............

Good thing Citroen (sp?) doesn't make sweet 4x4's we might have to look at buying FRENCH!!

Can't blame the Germans for wanting to stay out of it, they did start the last two WW's and they did loose both of them!!

Hey folks--

Just wanted to say hello from the cruizers.com board and say how much we have all enjoyed your send ups of the H2. See, with our Toyotas never breaking down, we need other things to pass the time... :-) lol Yeah right.

Seriously, you guys really know your stuff and I'm learning a lot from your board. Our board is more congenial, a lot of daily driver and weekend warrior folks (like me), but with some seriously capable mechanics, so detailed discussions of trail technique, suspension set up, etc. are very enlightening. Our board tends to discuss all those little mechanicals that make our rigs run a little rough, and just about everybody is a DIYer so we keep each other on or off the road.

Keep hammering the H2. I would say "See you on the trail" but where I'm from all I see are Broncos, old Blazers, occasionally a Dodge Powerwagon, some CJs, and who knows how many Tacoma and F250 pick-ups. At least there are no H2s. Let me know when you pull the first one out of trouble--if anyone ever really takes one off road...

Welcome Brendan.
Stop by anytime.

I think you'll find we, too, are a congenial bunch. We have a good time here and enjoy a heated debate from time to time.

We tend to get a bad rap from other boards, though, because we gang up and attack when threatened.

Got any pics of your rig?
What mods you done?

Yes, that G has lockers...they all do. One model in the mid ninties (a special edition 500) only had 2 lockers, not three

Greg--

My mods are mostly directed toward getting the best mileage and power out of my engine. I purchased the truck in Sept. of 2000 with 209k on it. I had always wanted an FJ60 and this was my first foray into 4x4 (I was 29 yrs. at the time). Anyhow, the mods include:

Accel Super coil
Splitfires overgapped to .035"
K&N
Bosch 8mm wires, cap, rotor

I've spent most of my time since purchase, though, fixing a hundred basic mechanical problems, including:

r&r power steering pump, steering gear, drag link, wheel bearings/seals, smog pump, all springs and bushings, carb rebuild, manifold gasket retorque, and replace who knows how many leaking vac lines and little emissions or vac routing parts

Pretty boring huh? At least I can get 17 mpg on the freeway to appease my Green Guilt. Now that I've got the truck running well (it wasn't when I bought it), I hope to do some very simple suspension mods in the future (extended shackles and bigger wheels/tires (31x10.50 on 15x8s)). I'm considering taking a loan against the truck (since I owe nothing on it) and getting a 5 speed H55F , with a lower 1st for climbing even steeper hills, but we'll see.

Of course, my second car, a 1985.5 Porsche 944, keeps me from spending all my money on the '60.

There you go.
