I posted this a while ago but just got around to checking on things (cannot find old thread). I've got a '95 D1 with stiff steering. the PS pump and box have been replaced. steering is stiff without a damper on. if I disconnect the wheels from the steering linkage they move freely on the swivels. while wheels are not connected to the steering system the steering wheel still seems quite stiff to me. how easily should the steering wheel turn when wheels aren't connected to the linkage? someone mentioned before maybe a u joint is frozen, how can I test this easily? THANKS!
