Does the type of plugs you put in a Disco matter? I'm using Bosch Platinum 4, and about 500 miles later the light came on.

My Disco is a 98 and the light reset is not the same as it is in the tech section. Anyone no how to reset on a 98 model?

Sean:
Is it the check engine light, or the service engine light?

As it is a '98, you have enhanced on-board diagnostics and can read the code for which the light was illuminated using a generic code scanenr. you MAY be able to have your local advance, autozone or Pep Boys read the codes and extinguish the light, then come back here for more help.

Well I took it to (2) Autozones and both of them repoted there were no codes. It is the "red" service engine light.

First thing get rid of the bosch plugs they the rovers don't like em go back to oe stuff and change them often the service engine light is an emissions related fault most likely one or more of your 02 sensors are shot it's best to replace them all at the same time the tech info for reseting the light should work make sure whatever you poke through the hole is long enough and press firmly we're talking about the red box here right underneath the passenger side kick panel hope this helps

There's a red box under the kick panel for the 98 D1 also. I didn't see it. I'll look again if it's there
