So what about synthetic gear oil in a transfere case. I see that people like Rovers North recommend it. But others have said things like if you use synthetic you will just get more leaks etc... Looking for people with experience.

i switched my 95 to syn throughout the drive line.the leaks are about the same.the operating temp is lower with the syn lube.if it stops leaking,better get it filled back up.

I used syn in my 88RRC and now in my 99D2. It leaks because it is more slippery. If there's a leak that bothers you just fix it! Seals on the the axles and transfer case are relatively easy to replace. (IMHO) I decided to switch after many recomendations and reading this web site:

Also, you replace gear oil less often, so why not use better stuff. More use for your dollar.
