Put some MTL in the disco. 96 80k. Shifted well before but if really wound up second would crunch a bit.

The ATF that was in there looked pretty clean (been there since 60k) and there was some but not much silver "fur" on the drain plug (no brass).

Well other than taking a mile or so to warm up the truck shifts as before but the "crunch" is gone.

Anyway. Spend the $30 and change to MTL if you have an R380.

"but the lucas does the same thing for cheaper"

This I can't believe. Lucas heavy duty in an R380 would make the pump die in like two seconds. MTL is very thin like ATF, lucas is like syrup. I think what helps with the MTL is that it has really high sheer strength and based on what I have seen of an R380 you need something thin so it will actually shift but that can still protect the POS synchros. I dunno. I was expecting no improvement when I changed it (I did it in hopes of preventing further damage) but the absense of the crunch was marked.

Lucas Transmission Fix
A non-solvent formula that stops slip, rough shifting and leaks in automatic transmissions. Use in any transmission for preventative maintenance.Lucas Transmission Fix stops slip, hesitation and rough shifting in worn transmissions and completely eliminates most seal leaks. An excellent preventative maintenance product. Use also in light duty manual transmissions to increase shifting ease and transmission life

it looks just like ATF is synthetic and does just what mtl does for have the price
