I was coming home from Georgia to Delaware and my speedometer would go from whatever speed I was driving to zero and stay there for a few seconds and jump back up to current speed. Has anyone seen this happen? |

Could be a ground issue, could be the connection to your Vehicle Speed Sensor...could be the VSS. If you have a 94-95, check the code reader under the passenger seat...might see a code for 48 or 68, which can be triggered by a bad VSS. If you have a 96+, you may have to have a shop read the code to determine if the VSS is the culprit. Any changes in drivability? Hesitation or missing during acceleration? Stalling when coming to a stop? |

Mine was doing that same thing and the alternator was bad.... but then again I also had other electrical symptoms (radio out, headlights dim etc..) My VSS also went out. I was having some weird acceleration issues. I replaced the VSS in about 10 mins and now my Rover runs perfectly again. :-) Check the VSS and alternator perhaps. |
