I went to the dealer today to talk to the service guys and I was waiting in line and I was behind a 17 year old girl and her Dad. The Dad bought her an 03 Disco and this Disco had 300 miles on it. The girl was going to school one day and her Disco had no gas in it and so she got a garden hose filled up the tank with water and then procceded to put 3 quarts of motor oil in the fuel tank thinking that would make gas. And attempted to make it to school made it no further than the end of the driveway.
I don't know what the damage was put I think it's gonna hurt.

Im serious. Possibly the single most dumbest act in the history of the woman. That's how the story was told to the service rep and I was standing right behind them with my jaw dropped to the floor and laughing MAO on the inside and then when they left me and the service guy had a good long laugh. The Dad was so pissed it wasn't even funny.

I ussualy blame teen idiotcy on drugs. But how in the world would you mangae to do this is beyond me. As a former drug user I never came up with anything that retarted while being under the influence of drugs/alchol.

That is sooooo funny. I cna't stop laughing.

I suppose it makes sence since gas comes from oil. It is logical that you should just need to dilute it.

I have seen several people (accidently?) fill their tank up with Diesel instead of Unleaded, but, water and motor oil!? Sounds like a Darwin awardee in the making.

i have to admit being one of them...

no residual damage, but it took me forever to burn off the remains of the diesel fuel. had to keep the engine running at night, a few minutes here and there, so fewer people could see the blue cloud...

Well, might as well add my ONE stupid, young girl story (well, relating to DRIVING!). I had a Diesel Mercedes for a first (and second) car and I accidentally put gas in it....didn't make it too far and had to have the tank and lines flushed to the tune of $110! I PAID FOR IT too!

My father was furious...but it WAS an honest mistake!

Live and learn...:-)

Sus, i wish i could use the "young girl" excuse :-)

OTOH... it is worse to put gasoline in a diesel car than the other way 'round :-)

Not all such stupid actions come from "young girls". I used to work with a guy who once checked his oil level and found it a quart low. So, he removed the radiator cap and topped it off. At least he recognized the dip stick.

WTF did she think people do at gas stations? Why are they not called water stations? And what's so special about super water over regular anyway? LOL:-)

I saw a gal pull up to a diesel pump and I though she would catch on to hugh yellow sign with diesel written on it. I thought oh my god. She was about to start pumping when I had to say something. She was too cute not to say anything.

I remember on The Amazing Race that half the teams filled their diesels with gas. Pretty funny.

So, are we done with the female-bashing yet? And Dee, it would take a "contribution" from a *man* for her to increase the level of the gene pool.....

Yeah Kim just like any kid with a toy if you don't play nice it will be taken away. Lets face it thay're a huge responsability and so of us have a hard time with that, to the point were its all we think about. All our thoughts and deeds revolve around that responability.

Oh my god...the birds and the bees on D-web! How frightening!

I did have a friend in college who was very intelligent, but had never even pumped her own gas or knew where the hood latch was on her Rover when she came in as a first-year. She was so accustomed to people doing it for her..she was stunned! The same girl drove Red Rover through the snow and said "it's amazing, I don't even have to turn on the 4wd!" That was the day I had to sit her down and explain the ins and outs of basic car ownership and the rover's capabilities! Too bad her dad didn't buy ME that car! But, she did let me drive it whenever I wanted! That's how all the obsession started....

:-) Sorry KJ, shovel is in use. We've got a nice little storm going on right now so I ain't goin' anywhere.

On a thread related note, Kim, :-) just got a boy pug a couple weeks ago. Little dude wouldn't stop humping my female so had his manhood taken away last week. Now it looks like he's got a little dried up wineskin under him. :-) But otherwise, he's fine and a lot more mellow.

Sorry Sus for more birds and bees talk. :-)
