About time to buy a new/used car and wanted your opinions about the new discos versus a older series I disco. It seems that the depreciation on these is really bad and to me it looks like it would make sense to buy a used one which in some cases look like bargains but.... what am I missing. |

Go used, well go Disco 1 rather. Simple and cheaper to maintain. |

price is a bargain maybe but make sure its not a POS obviously. I'd think that once the warranty ran out and a big problem came up, people would hide the problem and sell it off to some sucker. I'd go with a used one though, less money, less care if you rip your bumper off on the trail. we have new cliparts kikass

Go with D1s. The D2s have some nice cosmetic features but the engineers were only thinking of that - cosmetics. My biggest complaints about the D2s is their ass is longer and bottoms out on simple climbs and the diff. lock no loger exists. A + is the hill decent (sp?) feature, although I've never seen it in use. The D1's are very easy to maintain and work on and there are more parts and aftermarket suppliers available. Just do your homework... |

to me (owned both D1 and D2) the overall quality of the D2 is much better. you don't feel so much like you're riding in a completely plastic (cheap plastic!) cabin.

Also, D2's are more easily fitted with larger tires, and have greater cargo space (see above big ass). |

It depends on what your goal is. I agree with Derek , after own both a D1 and D2 I can say that the D2 quality is much better. I primarily use my discovery as a winter car and primarily drive it on paved roads so the D2 is leaps and bounds better than D1. If I wanted an off-road truck I would buy the D1 as you will have more money for bumpers, tires, lockers, etc. IMO the D2 renovation was primarily to improve road going manners. |

Corey, HDC is a joke. Really. It's a good marketing gimmick. I noticed Toyota has it now too and I'm sure everyone under the sun that uses ABS will have it. I have a D2 and there are things I like about it but HDC isn't one of them. |
