My 96 Disco takes some time to start. When it does start i get white smoke that smells like fuel. Someone told me I have leaky injectors? Is that true. Or is it something else. Plz Help THx. |

Sounds like they were right. Mine does it too. I've changed 3 of them. Still haven't found the right one. At least it is an easy job |

Don't know about you guys but, I grew up with the popular notion that blue smoke = oil Black smoke = fuel white smoke = water I would think a compresion test when the motor is cold may indicate a head gasket or intake gasket starting to leak. If you get a dribble of coolent in one or more cyl from sitting. when you start it will dilute the fuel and blow the coolant and fuel out the tail pipe as white smoke. As soon as there is heat, all that aluminium expands and things get tight again. just a thought. What do you think. Gabe |

Uh, sounds like normal start-up to me. Cold start sends extra fuel so gas smell and "white smoke" is condensation in exhaust (i.e. steamy exhaust) which is gone when hot, right? Does it do this in summer when warm (depending on where you live)? |

Mine does it all year long. It is actually a little better in the winter. What is happening (so I have been told) is that the injector is leaking while it is parked. This causes it to be flooded, and exhibits the same behaviou as if it were a carburated vehicle that you pumped the gas for too long before it cranked. |

yes I live in sunny southern california. It smokes on start up no matter the temprature it seems. There is deffinatly a problem here. I know it sounds normal to alot of people who have discos, but it takes to long to start my car. Lack of fuel? Lack of something. I dont know. |
