I was on my way home in my 89 RRC after being the shovelman all day with my buddy plowing. (only 20+ inches) We had passed someone on a side road earlier in the day, and I again was passing him, but this time I stopped. I thought it was a caravan at first, because the back end was so low to the ground. I backed all the way up to it, figuring I'd just tow it out. As I got there, a 17 year old kid got out of the Mercedes 2002 AMG ML430. ((Yes, this was his car. He drove it to school every day, and was just out playing in it while it snowed. I told him he should lift it, and he said he was going to (yeah.. right) Then proceeded to tell me he really wanted a Z71. I should have left him right then.)) He had tried to go over a snow bank that was made by a plow just stopping in the middle of the road... and failed. He was ontop of a good foot of packed snow... the undercarriage was, that is. So after 20-30 mins of shoveling under the body, I hooked up the towline, and yanked him off. I then asked him for some bucks. We settled on him "lending" me his gas card since he only lived just up the road from my parents. So I went to the local Sunoco, filled up the rover with 94 octane.. and the 4 (6 gallon) gas tanks I use for the boat in the summer! Ok, so the ending was a lie. I just said "remember the favor kid". (I say kid even though I'm only 23)... Man he was a punk! Oh, and ah.. technically speaking, the 3" lift is wonderful! |
