I have a '93 LWB that has had the OME spring conversion and thus has a lift of about 1.5 to 2 in. higher than the standard ride height (closer to the full extended height, I suspect). Also the mounting points on the air suspension shocks are different than the non-air suspensions. So the question is, does anyone have a recommendation for Rancho shocks on this setup? I know the deal on Bilsteins and OMEs, but want a price/quality comparison between these and Ranchos. Thanks in advance for any info that can be provided. Cheers, |

there is no comparison. the racho's are simply junky and inferior. you will be degrading your vehicle. it wont ride as nice it wont last as the other brands. i'd recommend the woodheads before the rancho you've been warned rd |

price or value?? as RD and others (do a search to see how many) have mentioned, Raunchos are not a good choice. there are many shocks available that will last, perform well, and are a decent price adding up to a good value. you already have OME springs. should be a OME shock to match your setup. see http://www.expeditionexchange.com/ome/index.htm for some good information. Woodheads over Rancho? Well, that pretty much answered that question. Thanks much, I will heed your advice and probably do the OMEs to match up with my spring set. Thanks again, Bill |

yes,, that is right. that's how i know i hate them. you've checked the window i presume? those aren't the first set on there either, but if you want the sexy flexy you have limited choices. i'm happy stock :0) rd |

If you paint the woodheads yellow you get 5 more inches of travel and 30k miles more wear... |

I Just broke a Bilsteine shock and have now ordered two rear OME shock to replace them. In the mean time local defender owner let me have his rancho 5000 shocks for free. Great guy he is putting long travel Bilstein shocks on his defender. I do notice the diffrence in the shock valving the ride is alot harsher. I will be switching then asap. |
