My dad just got some 265/70/R16's on his D2 and now the spare is rubbing on the rear bumper. I did a search and couldn't find anything. I did see the article on EE, but that looks more entail than what I can get into at the moment. Any other ideas on how to do it?

Thanks,
Will Bobbitt

Will,

Man that job is soooooo simple. Took me 30 minutes to complete. Read the EE link over again, it is very easy to complete.

Paul,
Alright, it just says on there that it will take an afternoon to do. Am I going to break those clips for the back upholestry? Will it work without all of them?

Thanks,
Will

Will, you might break some so I reccomend going to get a few extras just in case. It really is easy to do.

Will,

I didn't have any extras when I did the job and I ended up re-installing the rear panel with 40% of the clips remaining. It worked fine. Then the next time I went to the Dealer, I picked up enough to finish the job right.

Easy as pie :-)

Yeah, I second Paul's testimonial.

Super easy. I did it in 20 minutes, which included the drilling of the CB antenna mount.

I had extra clips on hand from some prior breakage, so now for the first time in a year I'm back to 100% of the clips

Will, your dad's rig would look soooo much better with steel wheels on it now that he's got some decent tires on it.

Will,

If the spare rubbing on the bumper - LEAVE IT THAT WAY! It will take some of the weight off the door hinges. I've often thought about making a wedge to stick under my spare, to reduce the strain on the door and take some on the step.

Just my 0.02

Dean

I did the invertation tonight. I only broke 4 or 5 red clips. Thanks for the tips!

Will
