This weekend I pulled the insulation map off the underside of the hood. I was tore up and muddy and sagging down. I glab to be rid of that nasty POS. Since I've done that I notice that when my hood is wet it now gets all steamy. The water on hood heats up and creates steam. Will this eventually cook my paint and mess it up? Thanks, Dan |

It depends on what color your Disco is. My grandma has a bright red 94 Toyota truck and she had to get it painted last year becase the paint faded really bad on the hood from not having a heat shield. If yours is white, then you probabley won't have that much of a problem, but I would get one anyway. Will |

Daniel, As I interpret it, that crappy mat is just soundproofing. I have had mine off for a year and never had any problems. But yeah my hood is white, so I could just be lucky. Just go buy some cheap insulation (not the foam that soaks up water), put it in, and be done with it. Adam Ross |

I wouldn't worry about the hood fading on the disco from the lack of the mat. I would be surprised if the engine gets hot enough to fade the hood paint ( I think that the sun would fade the paint before the engine heat) I Agree with Adam that the mat is primarily for sound deadening. |
