I'm currently running 245/75/16 dunlop radial rover R/T's on my stock alloys. Its a 98 disco I. I love my new found off-road traction. I had planned on replacing them with 235/85/16 muds or R/T's when the tread gets low.
Another option would be some nice dubs with low profile Z-rated tires. Something between 20 and 24 inch would be nice. Preferably chrome. A company recently started offering lowering springs for the disco as well (I wont name names to protect the innocent). I think the disco slammed on some dubs would be a serious g-ride. The floozies would come running, the champagne would flow, hundred dollar bills would fall from the sky. I could appear in a rap video.
Anyone have the down lop on a source for such rollers?
Dan

ROFLMAO???
Yeah Z-rated tires. They would make the disco handle like a sports car.
Besides, a disco I with 20inch rims, low pro tires and lowering springs would probably still do better on the trail than a 2003 Explorer. Seriously!
I'm getting some bad vibes here. Am I to assume that everyone thinks I'm better off sticking with my original plan of attack and getting the 235/85/16 mudders?
And the chrome rims might not go so well with the brush scratches on the fenders and the tore up front and rear bumpers from hard wheelin.
Come on guys, just joking there. I hope the disco gods dont frown upon me for using the LR name in vain.

Jack,
That is the funniest stuff I have ever seen posted here. Just the kind of advice I was looking for. Truly a good laugh. That is why I posted this.
Someone get on the paintshop programs and post a picture of a disco lowered on some dubs, that will be "da Heeezy fo sheeezy."

hmmm... okay.... I'm open minded and willing to learn... Z-rated tires make a Disco handle like a sports car? How will a 155 speed rated tire make a Disco handle any better? And if you're going for Z-ratings why stop there? Go for some Y-rated tires.

My 540i/6 has SP-03 (Y-rated). I don't even know or care what speed rating my Disco's tires have. I know I have a set of BFG 265/75x16 AT's and a set of BFG 255/75x16 MT's. Who cares what speed the tires are rated at if they won't break a P or Q rating.

But okay... so you place 20" rims on your Disco and some Z rated tires, lower the ride to make it "handle like a sports car." Would you also lift a 911 and slap on some 34" Mud tires to take it on some trails or cope with the snow in the winter? Not that mud tires would help in the snow.

See how we might think the idea is... err... (edited for our friends in Utah) ...silly?

Bling Bling...me thinks a Disco may hit 155 if dropped from a high nuf attitude. And it should handle pretty much like a sports car that has been dropped from the sky. Yo Yo might even fair better on impact ...dat is if the hair bag go off.

OK I know these are only 18s, but I thought a "real" photo might be worth as much as a photoshopped one anyways...

IIRC no sliders. Stock vehicle, except of course for the fly 18" rims.

The vehicle was new to him and it was his first time off-road I think.

Hey who let H2 owners borrow there Range Rover. They must have thought they were in there H2 because a stock H2 with sidesteps would have plowed down that no problem

actually those are 19s on that range rover. those are the 03 wheels, which apparently will fit the now old body range as well as the DII. Well.. at least you d2 guys can fit the 19s or the optional 20s.. :-)

Who would a thought my stupid ass post would have gotten such a response. I cant beleive the picture of the D2 at the Land Rover Aneheim Hills dealer. We dont see much off that here in Oregon. I was just joking with this post but obviously in some parts of the country people take dubs on a disco seriously. What next, a Unimog on some chrome 36" rollers? It boggles the mind.

pj - that's hysterical !

carter - not a clue - it was a weird section where there were multiple possible routes and with so many rigs out there it was kaos ! the guy who was directly behind him was going to yank him out with the shipping tie down bracket of his disco !! i told him when that bracket breaks off and flies thru the rear window of the p38a.....

so he got out of the way and i hooked him up to the front of my shackled arb.... a few soft tugs and he was free. for my efforts the p38a driver gave a gatorade as i was slightly dehydrated that day. can't remember his name, but he's a nice guy.

About that Discovery at Anaheim Hills - they really were expecting to sell it with those rims! I think they wanted like $2000 for them. But to the customers' credit, that truck's been on the showroom floor now for several months, unsold.

Do they make a 35" mudders to put on those 19" rims? I like the idea of the extra clearance when I airdown to single digits. Thats an extra 1 and a 1/2 inches of ground clearance. Bling on that!
