Do 2003 Dicoveries (in the USA) come standard with a Differential Lock? The LR literature does not mention a Diff Lock specifically, it just talks about the all-terain ABS traction control. If they don't come with the Diff Lock, do you have any opinions on the usefulness of traction control when 4 wheeling? |

ETC is nice but not a CDL replacement. CDL will be back in the US in 2004MY. You can fit older D2's with CDL but not 2002-2003's. |

What would you consider the limitations of the ETC compared to the CDL are? Is it possible to add a CDL to a 2003? Would it be worth it to even try? |

Yes it is possable but very expensive. ETC limitations are that the vehicle is utilizing the brakes to isolate a wheel spinning and you can loose momentome waiting for it to engage and get stuck. CDL is locking the center diff so the front and rear have equal power. Together, they make the next best thing to lockers. |

So, was it a BMW brainstorm to drop the CDL and add a high tech feature in it place like ETC? Is LR bringing back CDL now that BMW bailed? |

Accually, when BMW owner LR they still had the CDL. '00 was the last year before Ford took over and with the '01 came no CDL. ETC was incorporated by BMW for both on road and off road performance. ETC did not really replace CDL. It has been heard through the grape vine that LR is bringing the CDL back in model year 2004. |
